Winter Dressing

Getting 18 four year olds dressed for enjoying the snow is a challenge!

We have learned a few things that help make the winter gear more manageable.

  1. Label EVERYTHING!
  2. Hang snow pants on your child's hook, not in the backpack.
  3. Place your child's mittens in the top of their boots and their hat in a coat sleeve.
  4. Place snow pants and costs on hooks and then backpacks on top.

Thanks for your help, and remember, if you're early, come on in and help "us" dress. We really appreciate it.

Snacks

We would like to remind everyone of the importance of bringing a nutritious snack for the children on your parent-help day.

Snacks are part of a child's total daily nutrition, so keep that in mind as you plan what to bring.

Consider:

  • fruit
  • vegetables
  • crackers
  • cheese
  • muffins
  • bagels
  • yogurt (great fruit dip!), etc.

Please try to keep the sweets for special birthday snacks.

Also remember to consider the allergies in your child's class. These are now written on the Parent Help Schedule that you receive in your child's backpack.

Carpooling, Class Lists and Sitting Swaps

Are you feeling rushed off your feet trying to make another appointment, pick up another child, or bundle up your baby or toddler? Now that you and your child are settled in at the pre-school and the cold weather has arrived, you may want to consider carpooling and/or swapping child care of younger siblings.

To facilitate this, the class lists are kept current by the registrars and the APHYCSS (Auxiliary Parent Helpers with Younger Children Sitting Swap - don't you LOVE acronyms?).

Lists are kept in the stairwell. The class lists and APHYCSS lists can act as a resource for car pooling, child-care, emergencies, and to promote an awareness of our far-reaching and wonderful Campus Pre-School community.

A Covenant

for honoring children
by Raffi

We find these joys to be self-evident:

That all children are created whole, endowed with innate intelligence, with dignity and wonder, worthy of respect.

The embodiment of life, liberty, and happiness,
Children are original blessings,
Here to learn their own song.

Every girl and boy is entitled
To love, to dream and belong to a loving "village."
And to pursue a life of purpose.
***

We affirm our duty
To nourish and nurture the young,
To honor their caring ideals as the heart of being human.

To recognize the early years as the foundation of life,
And to cherish the contribution of young children
To human evolution.
***

We commit ourselves to peaceful ways
And vow to keep fro harm or neglect
These, our most vulnerable citizens.

As guardians of their prosperity
We honor the bountiful Earth
Whose diversity sustains us

Thus we pledge to love
for generations to come.
